Over the last two weeks I set up a brand new iMac running El Capitan for my wife. After transferring the photos and documents from her old iMac, we discovered that there were several documents that Pages would not open, giving a “cannot open that format” or words to that effect message. After discovering these were Microsoft Works files, I found a reference to Works Document Viewer on the Apple Support forums and checked it out in the App store. It sounded like exactly what we needed, so I bought it—can’t go wrong for $3.99! It was incredibly easy to use and after experimenting with the conversion of a single file to ensure it would open in Pages, I batch converted all the Works files, which the program stored immediately in the new folder I had created for them. The batch conversion process took about one second when everything was ready to go. Couldn’t have been easier. We really don’t have any other files to convert, but this program was certainly worth every penny to breath new life into these old family documents. I recommend it highly.

I used this app to open an old WPS file that a family member had developed a few years ago in Microsoft Works. Before using this app, I first tried to open the file using my PC computer, thinking that I could open WPS files in Microsoft Word or via a free app in the Microsoft store. Wrong on both accounts. So, I went to the Apple App Store and found this program. It downloaded quickly and once it did, all I had to do was drag and drop the file into the programs “drop zone” (which opened automatically when I downloaded the program) and then the WPS file opened almost instantly. Couldn’t have been easier. After gaining access to the text, I pasted it into Microsoft Word, saved and printed the new Word file, and was on my way - except for writing this review! I’m not sure how often I’ll have a need to use this app in the future, but it sure did the job for me today!

I purchased this APP and regretted it as soon as It was downloaded. It opened up but was in a code and I could never use the APP. Luckily it was only $3.99 but a waste of money.

I had a hard copy that the sender had printed out for me, and her footnoting and other formatting aspects were fine. But when I used this application to open her electronic submission, the formatting was completely haywire. It seems like a waste of money.

Switched to a Mac laptop a few months back and had not needed to access any of the old files I had composed. However, the need arose and of course, I had formatted my old PC and it no longer had Works on it. Spent several hours trying to download Microsoft file converters, Works document viewers, etc, and all to no avail. Downloaded this little app to my Mac and was viewing my old files in approximately 38 seconds. It has taken me far longer to write this review! The program did exactly what I needed, so for the future time and frustration that wouldve been spent trying to decypher any such files into a usable format, $5 is worth it. Now I shall never have this problem again.

Switched from a PC to a Mac & I had a ton of files that I could not open on my old PC, but did not want to delete them because I couldnt remember exactly what was on them. Tried to open the files on my new MacBook & when they wouldnt open it asked if I wanted to search the APP store for a program that would open the files. Found this APP & now I can open all of my old files!! Im loving how easy it was to find a program to open those files on my new MacBook!! I spent hours being frustrated trying to find a program to open my files on my old PC to no avail… This app is definitely worth the money if you have old Works files...

This $5.99 app was the easiest and quickest app to download. Worked like a champ. Converted all my files from my PC memory stick and read them as if I was still using the PC. Also printed all the documents with no problems. Would highly recommend to anyone. Worth every penny just purely from the time that normally you would of used with other alternatives. For $5.99 it is worth a shot.

Installed and was able to view many documents in Works and Word immediately. Upon installation in Applications, Works Document Viewer went through all files and folders and automatically converted these to be able to view on my iMac. It was a relief to find a program that did not require me to open it first and place files in it to convert. At such a reasonable price it was worth the money. AAA+

My Dad received a WPS file from a contractor, and I was able to be the hero by opening it with this app.

Does its job--just as advertised!

YES! I am so happy to have found this app which does, indeed, convert my old Works documents to a readable format. I had previously copied them onto an external hard drive, and Im told that is the way to go rather than trying to convert directly from a computer. What it doesnt do is convert spreadsheets. I hope an app can be created for that.

Found an old back-up disc with really old files, but couldnt open them…..until I got Works Document Viewer! Does its job as advertised. Very pleased.

Installed easily…dragged various WPS files into it as instructed…pops up an error box asking if these files are WPS files. Complete FAIL.

I switched from a HP laptop to a Mac about three years ago. I tried to transfer my documents but it would not let me view them because they weren’t compatible. I have written over 600 poems and I used a website to change them to .doc files from .wps. This was VERY timely and have not been able to convert my poems. I bought this app tonight and I now have ALL 658 poems in viewable format!!! So beyond pleased with this app. EVERYONE BUY, IT’S WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!

This worked for almost all the WPS files I had, there are a few it seems to randomly nopt open. I am not sure why. It’s not perfect but it seems to be good enough.

Not too thrilled with this Works Doc Viewer pgm. It was not able to open but 5% of my documents I was trying to bring over from my PC. Not worth the $ for me

Spent $$ for this WPS viewer, but it cuts off most of each document. One page per document is shown. This is a worthless application that does not work properly.

I really love this app and have used it a lot to transfer and unscramble files from my external hard drive. After my PC crashed and became a paperweight I had lost most of my files, except those that I saved to my EXTHD. Unfortunately I had only converted a few of them to rtf files. When I purchased my first mac I was not aware of the fact that nothing except the rtf files could be interpreted by my stupid mac. So I began the laborious task of trying to find a way around this problem. Nothing worked except the old fasioned method of retyping every file by hand, until I found WPS in the app store. I was not only suprised, but delighted to discover that all I had to do was to drag and drop files and they were transformed into readable text. If only I had known about this great product earlier, I would have been saved months of tedious typing. This is the most useful app that I’ve ever purchased. IT’S WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

Wasted my money thanks DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!!

Converts lengthy wps files with relatively simple formating without hassle. I haven’t tried files with tables or images. A real standout is the customer service. I requested support for footnotes, and was offered a refund or to wait for a planned update. Three days later, an update came out that did exactly what I needed it to do. I was very impressed by their refund policy, by their response to my query, and by their desire to improve the app. If you need wps text documents converted, this is the right place to be.
